Chaminade Catholic Boys’ Secondary School is among the secondary schools under the proprietorship of Marianist brothers in the Diocese of Karonga. It is in St Mary’s Parish. The school is a grant aided and is located in Karonga District of Northern Malawi. The school was founded in 1962 by the Marianist Brothers and they are still running the school. The Marianist brothers are actively involved in teaching, management and development of the school. The school has an enrolment of 360 students as a double stream. However, the official capacity of the school is 320. This indicates that the school has over enrolled by 40 students.
In organizational terms, the school has the board of governors which comprises head teacher, the board chair and other two members who are elected locally, the diocese representative who is the parish priest, the two Marianist brothers, the Diocesan Education Secretary, District Education Manager (Karonga), the Education Divisional Manager (Northern region), and the Secretary for the Episcopal Conference of Malawi.
Chaminade Catholic Boys’ Secondary school offers quality education to 360 boarding students. Due to the ever growing demand by the stakeholders for quality education from the school, the school opened a night school for those students that were not able to find spaces in boarding schools and also for those that would like to improve their grades in order to have better opportunities in life. Currently, the night school which is a co-education has an enrolment of 500 students. The enrolment is higher than the other open schools that surround Chaminade secondary school. These students find their own accommodation and meals.
