In conjunction with the literacy department the center established a computer classes to train and offer skills to the parents and young adults to enable them acquire a market advantage in their search for employment and better living standards. Each year this department produces over forty graduates in basic computer knowledge.
The center also runs a revolving fund among twelve groups of 10 to 15 members each. This program is a way of economically empowering individuals to start and sustainably manage micro businesses aided with micro-credit being offered at the center to those that have demonstrated capabilities of being resourceful. The total number of members is 131 who borrow money ranging from 10,000.00 to 30,000.00 Kenyan shillings. (USD 150 to 350)
In addition, the center conducts skills program, which seeks to empower individuals with valid and productive skills to make a living. Some of the skills provided are basketry, tailoring and dress making, soap making, beads and jewelry making.
The center is also open to provide counseling to individual and groups who may seek assistance. The counseling office deal with issues related to work, relationships, family challenges, parenting, sickness and stress management and lack of income.
Ujamaa Family Centre also carries out outreach programs like clean up exercise within Mukuru kwa Njenga with an aim of enhancing living in clean and decent environment.
